Mushroom picking in Notrajnska is extremely popular, as walking in Notranjska forests only is a true balsam for your soul.

The most common and popular mushrooms in the tree undergrowth are "jurčki", "mavrahi", "lisičke" and "štorovke" meanwhile "marele" and "kukmaki" are common on the rich grasslands. There are more than 200 species of mushrooms in Notranjska, but only above mentioned species are advisable for harvesting, because of the high risk of replacement with toxic species.
