Furmanski praznik: (carriage drivers’ festival)

Furmanski praznik takes place in Postojna in the summer. The event tries to show the rich heritage of cargo and transportation activities, as Postojna used to be very important stop in 15th century and place where furmani (carriage drivers) gathered.

Knight games in Predjama

Knight games in Predjama are well visited. Erazem knight tournament in Predjama is based on the knowledge, writings & illustrations from 16th century. Heartly knight archers, fighters & horseriders show themselves off on the tournament ground with their fighting skills. Rich medieval feast, which includes food prepared after traditional medieval recepies & served in the same way as half a millenium back, is a specialty every year. Organizers want the visitors to participate actively, but they also want them to pay attention on gear, clothes and weapons of the performers, on drums, carriages for music and plays, decorations, flags – all prepared after the documents from 16th century.

Summer festival "Zmaj ’ma mlade"

Summer festival "Zmaj ’ma mlade", which takes place thorugh whole august and brings different musical performers from the whole world is also very popular, meanwhile live crib in Postojna cave make the festive feeling even richer at the end of the year.

Festival Vilenica

International meeting of writers takes every august in Vilenica cave (festival Vilenica is a traditional international literary meeting of poets, writers and eseists Vilenica where they award the prize Vilenica).

Praznik Terana in Pršuta (festival of Teran & prosciuto)

Ethnologically coloured, traditional event at Dutovlje pri Sežani called Praznik Terana in Pršuta (festival of Teran & prosciuto) also takes place in august, named after unique karst wine and karst prosciuto/smoked ham, which is dried at almost every local homestead.
