Postojna – climate oasis

High altitude (556 m) makes Postojna Slovenian highest tourist city and such very suitable for all types of outdoor recreation. Vast Javorniško - Snežniški forests are the lungs which produce high quality and clean air. It is proven that the best ozone is between 600 and 1.000 m of altitude, which conditions beneficent climate. Continental and mediteranean air mix at Postojna entrance, which works beneficent.

Climate conditions were used in 19th century already, when Swiss gentleman mr. Progler built first natural resort in Slovenija - Grandhotel Adelsbergerhof. Progler managed hotel as superior resort (before much more known Rikli in Bled), where Austrian tourists came to relax and used Postojna as a starting point for coastal Opatija (now Croatia) and other places. Stationary tourism in Postojna died in the time of kingdom SHS, with Adelsbergerhof being destroyed.

Climate conditions are great starting point for development of all sorts of soft tourism: such as cycling, treking and other outdoor activities. The wellbeing of living in Postojna reach far back in history to paleolitic, of which tells us the findings of cave settlements close to Postojna /Betalov spodmol.
